    Apology for the low resolution, but during a PsiQuantum talk, the team mentioned that 2-qubit gates are cheap in fault-tolerant design but T gate is very expensive, whereas 2-qubit gates are noisy in NISQ design but single-qubit gate is very cheap. Why is this the case?

    Fault-tolerant design typically consists of Clifford and T gates. Implementing the T gate requires a step called magic state distillation (The underlying logic here is that the T gate is not transversal and thus less resource-efficient) which takes relatively more resources than 2-qubit gates.
